This web site was inspired by a combination
of our experience as consumers and our experience as a small
business consulting to some very successful national and
international companies over 25 years.
As consumers, our interactions with businesses have highlighted enormous differences in customer
service. There are businesses which are friendly, helpful,
honest, reliable and provide good value. Then there are
others which are unreliable, unfriendly, dishonest, provide
mediocre quality and then overcharge.
It was an experience of the latter variety,
combined with encouragement from friends,
which provided the stimulus for us to do something to
help fellow consumers find trustworthy businesses.
Thus, ServiceStar Directories was born - with one
straightforward aim - to be the first choice for
consumers seeking quality service from businesses. In other
words, to provide the link between consumers who want great
service and businesses who provide great customer
service.

Geoff Williams, Founder
 Geoff
grew up in the Hawkesbury valley to the north-west of
Sydney. After attending Richmond
High School he studied at the
University of NSW, completing his Science degree in
Psychology and Industrial Arts in 1976. Geoff returned
to live in the Hawkesbury area in 1978 and in 1981
established his management consultancy. In the 25
years since he has worked with clients from a wide scope of
industries and sectors, ranging from small companies to some
of the worlds largest corporations. All his consultancy work
is from word-of-mouth recommendation.
Geoff's experiences as a
consumer inspired him to create ServiceStar Directories, Australia's
first on-line business directory with independent consumer
ratings. He sees it as an opportunity to combine his
experience and expertise in a wide range of organisations to provide a service to the
community, both consumers and businesses.
Geoff enjoys
outback camping trips and has a passion for restoring,
driving, racing and rallying classic cars. He is also a volunteer motorsport official.
Choy-Lin Williams, Founder
Choy-Lin
is the other half of ServiceStar. She was born in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia and has lived in Australia since 1970. She
finished school at Brigidine Convent, Randwick and then
trained as a Food Technologist at the University of New
South Wales in Sydney, Australia graduating with a Bachelor
of Science degree.
After completing her degree Choy-Lin
worked in the food industry for eight years before joining
Geoff in his consultancy. She has lived in the Hawkesbury
district for over 20 years.
A strong believer in good customer service, Choy-Lin
sees ServiceStar as an opportunity to identify businesses that demonstrate honesty and integrity.
As well as working in the business,
Choy-Lin has been making quilts since 1987 and has exhibited
her quilts in Australia and overseas since 1989. She was
involved in QUILTS 2000, a project which raised funds for
and awareness of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games. The
QUILTS 2000 website has been archived by The National
Library and can be viewed at
www.nla.gov.au/webpac.
In February 2001, QUILTS 2000 was named winner of the
National Award from The Fund Raising Industry Association of
Australia.
Choy-Lin is currently President of
Ozquilt Network Inc., Australia's organisation for art
quilters and Secretary for our local tennis club. Ozquilt
Network Inc. can be found at
